Tooling Manufacture
Maybrey's in-house tooling capability means we control the quality and timing of the tooling that underpins every casting we produce. All tooling is designed in-house by our engineering team. Pattern making, gravity die tooling, and machining fixtures are all produced at our Aylesford facility or through a long-standing sub-contract partner.
What We Produce
Pattern Making
Low-volume patterns produced in low-density board. Higher-volume patterns from denser material for longevity. All patterns designed to accommodate draft, shrinkage, and machining allowances.
Gravity Die Tooling
All die blocks are cast in-house in our iron sand foundry. Dies are designed in-house with a full casting drawing detailing draft tapers, corner radii, and machining allowances.
Machining Fixtures
Bespoke fixtures produced to support our in-house CNC machining operation.
3D Printed Moulds
Direct-from-CAD sand printing for complex, prototype, and one-off castings. See 3D Printed Moulds page.

Reverse Engineering
Where a customer has a physical sample but no drawing or CAD model, we can reverse engineer the component to produce the tooling needed for casting. Our process:
- Spectrometric analysis of the sample metal to identify alloy specification
- 3D scanning of the sample to produce a CAD model
- Engineering review to add casting allowances: draft, shrinkage, machining stock
- Tooling manufacture from the approved CAD model
This capability is particularly valued by architectural and heritage customers who need to reproduce existing ironwork or fittings from a surviving piece.
