Our Story

Our history is not just a story: it is evidence. One hundred and seventy-seven years of casting experience informs every pour, every pattern, and every specification we work to.

Origins: 1849

Maybrey's origins trace to 1849. The company began as Hatcham Iron Works, producing castings for the industries and infrastructure of a rapidly growing nation. Over the following century and a half, the business evolved through changes in ownership, technology, and markets, but the core skill remained unchanged: the ability to produce complex castings in a range of metals to demanding specifications.

Reliance Foundry and the Merger

In 2002, Maybrey Precision Castings and Reliance Foundry merged, combining the best equipment and expertise from both businesses at a single production site. That site is now our purpose-built facility at Unit 2, Old Mill Lane, Aylesford, in Kent. The consolidation brought three separate sites under one roof, improving process efficiency and logistics, and creating one of the best-equipped specialist foundries in the UK.

A Family Business

Maybrey is led by the Hills family, now in its third generation at the helm. That continuity matters. Long relationships with customers, some spanning 25 years or more, are built on trust that takes time to earn. The Hills family's commitment to the business and the craft underpins the stability and reliability our customers depend on.

Part of the Caro Group

Maybrey Precision Castings is a proud member of the Caro Group, alongside Caroflow, Caro Systems, and Caro Flood Defence. The Group's shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and long-term customer relationships provides Maybrey with additional resources and support while preserving the specialist identity that sets us apart.

Investing in the Future

Our heritage informs us, but it does not hold us back. Recent investment at our Aylesford facility includes a new PepSet sand line, an LEV fleet, solar energy generation, a new flood coat and finishing department, and ongoing development of our gravity die and CNC machining capabilities. We cast for the needs of today and the requirements of tomorrow.
